Guest Bloggers say it best!

I asked for guest bloggers to post their thoughts until I have time to post some updates, which I will do soon. My sister Mary sent her blog to me tonight. My cousin Katie wrote hers, not knowing that it would become a blog. And this folks is one of the reasons we are making this move. Enjoy!

Ok, I am nervous writing this because my sister Marla is such a good blogger, I think my 3 girls get their writing skills from her. But here goes. I am so proud of Marla and Dan. They have always been responsible and prepared for their future. They completed their education before getting married and built a gorgeous home to raise their family in. They had 4 children, one is forever their guardian angel. Their children have always come first. They are all educated, one has a career and 2 beautiful children, another climbing the ladder to the top in his career and another married and in medical school. Amazing family. After many of years of working in the computer field, Marla jumped out of her comfort zone and started her own travel business, which is succeeding! And then they decided to move back home after many years away. I think they intended on building a new home or buying a fairly new home until coming upon this old house. It captured their hearts and they once again jumped out of their comfort zone and took a chance on this old house on Brignac Street. They are following their hearts and going after a dream they never thought they would have the courage to do. I am drawn to this old house also, sometimes sneaking when they aren’t there (don’t check your cameras Marla). I have to say when I see them there they are beaming, proud, happy, excited and a tiny bit scared because it’s so outside of their characters. Marla and I have a running joke that I hear a ghost there, starting with my very first visit, but it’s just a private joke (not really, lol). I am so excited to watch them on this journey and at the end I look forward to evenings rocking with them on the front porch, or back porch, or side porch. After months of hard work, and many more months ahead, Marla and Dan deserve those rockers!! We are here whenever you need us, just holler.

We went for a ride..... pictures dont give this property justice. Gave me goosebumps to think about the history of the house and the summers on the front porch! I bet they snapped beans, chewed on raw sugar cane and drank homemade lemonade, wine and whiskey. I bet back in the day they could see the Mississippi River and the boats traveling. And now to think of the time to come with The Brignac Kids (like momma would say) are coming. Can not wait for the pictures and stories....... Love this adventure yall are sharing with us.

A final note: If anybody reading these blogs knows more about the history of this house on Brignac St, please contact me. I would love to learn more. One of the previous owners stopped by one day and walked through the house with us as he explained what everything was like in the house when he was a young boy. I want to know more!
